Summary

After the loathed co-op board president of a luxury pre-war building falls off her balcony to her death, Elsbeth and Kaya are called to the scene to dig for a lead when they meet Joann, a high-powered Manhattan real estate broker with huge clients and even bigger secrets.

• The bit about Oprah Winfrey buying apartments in the building where the murder case takes place, is a thinly veiled reference to Oprah attempting unsuccessfully to buy beachfront land in a Maui, and the subsequent mysterious fire of August 8, 2023, which killed 115 people.
