Elsbeth Tascioni (née Guðmundsdóttir) is a formerly lawyer now turned consultant detective.

She was raised in Peoria, Illinois.

Elsbeth made occasional appearances on The Good Wife and The Good Fight as an easily underestimated but genius lawyer who often got Alicia Florrick and her colleagues and loved ones out of legal troubles. Her character often makes observations at inappropriate times while still being able to stay on task to perform brilliant intellectual maneuvers, placing her in the forefront of her field.

As a consultant detective for the New York City Police Department, Elsbeth keeps her quirky way of work, but instead of being a defense lawyer, she focuses on finding the truth, and helps the police to detect the killers. Elsbeth operates under authority of a United States Department of Justice decent decree that gives her oversight over the NYPD and the ability to investigate active cases.
